Northwestern lands second-best recruit in program history Casey Simmons

A HUGE get for the ‘Cats!

Chris Collins added a huge addition to the class of 2021 Saturday night when four-star shooting guard Casey Simmons announced his commitment to Northwestern.

According to 247Sports.com, Simmons ranks as the second-best recruit in program history, behind only Pete Nance, and joins the now third-ranked recruiting class in the nation.

The Massachusetts native also had offers from a number of top programs like Texas, Boston College, Georgetown, Miami, Penn State, Pitt, Princeton, Rhode Island, Richmond and Xavier.

As the 102-ranked player in the nation, Simmons joins two other top-150 recruits Julian Roper and Brooks Barnhizer in what is now one of the best classes Northwestern has ever seen.

Simmons also ranks 23rd at his position in the nation and first in Massachusetts.

But his commitment leaves Northwestern in an interesting situation, as the 6-foot-5 shooting guard claimed the final scholarship spot for the 2021-2022 season if Anthony Gaines chooses to return for a fifth year.

As a result, Northwestern has some significant decisions to make as it remains in the hunt for top-15 recruits Pat Baldwin Jr. and Max Christie.

Either way, Collins and his team are well on their way to anticipated success in the coming years.
