Following the departure of Emmanuel Dildy to join Porter Moser’s new staff in Oklahoma, Chris Collins and co. have found a new name to add to the coaching staff in Talor Battle. The former Penn State star had a decorated career in Happy Valley from 2008-2011, finishing with over 2,000 career points scored.

In his post-collegiate career, Battle played basketball overseas for around seven years and also made appearances in the 2017 and 2018 editions of “The Basketball Tournament”. He also served as an assistant coach for his alma mater this past season.
Perhaps most notably, Battle is the older half-brother of Northwestern point guard Boo Buie. The two have a very close bond, as was detailed in a Big Ten Network feature, where Buie was described as Battle’s absolute biggest fan during his remarkable playing career at Penn State.
Battle is still relatively new to the coaching sphere, so it’s hard to tell exactly what impact he might have on the ‘Cats in the 2021-22 season, but the hire no doubt is an important one for the program.
