NU Takes 5/5: NFL Draft recap

What a week to be a Wildcat.

In the post-draft installment of NU Takes, hosts Michael Barthelemy and Didi Jin review everything that happened in the wild weekend of the NFL Draft, where a total of 10 Northwestern players ended up on NFL rosters.

First was offensive lineman Rashawn Slater, who was selected No. 13 to the Los Angeles Chargers. The crew discusses his fit with the Bolts and his probability of success at the next level (0:38-3:05).

Cornerback Greg Newsome II got the call Thursday as well, as the No. 26 selection to the Cleveland Browns. How will Newsome fair in Cleveland? Is this a good spot for him to end up at (3:15-5:50)?

Once Saturday rolled around, defensive end Earnest Brown IV was headed to LA as well, but as a Ram. The crew debriefs on whether they expected Brown to be taken No. 174 and if he’ll have what it takes to last in the league (6:20-9:25).

Once Mr. Irrelevant was called, seven former Wildcats ended up with contracts, including linebackers Paddy Fisher and Blake Gallagher, wide receiver Riley Lees, quarterback Peyton Ramsey, offensive lineman Gunnar Vogel, tight end John Raine and safety JR Pace. With the plethora of Evanston talent ending up at the next level, are there any players that have a strong chance of making an impact in the NFL? Who was a surprise signing? With 10 total former Wildcats signed to teams, what sort of statement does this make about the NU program (9:35-19:20)?
