With the ‘Cats 2021 season opener just around the corner, Northwestern football is back to their regularly scheduled uniform releases one day prior to kick-off. This year’s week one fit is arguably one of the best alternate uniforms in college football: the ‘Cats are going gothic.

Reminiscent of the architecture and distinct calligraphy that dons the signage on both Northwestern’s downtown Chicago and Evanston campuses, the gothic uniforms offer a classy symbolic twist on the ‘Cats favorite blackout uniform commonly worn for night games. Last worn in Northwestern’s HAT victory against Illinois last season, this will be the fifth time the ‘Cats have suited up in gothic lettering.
While we can no longer make use of ex-Daily Northwestern writer Ella Brockway’s weekly uniform takes, we do have current Daily reporter Patrick Andres’ food for thought instead:
Northwestern is 2-2 all-time in the Gothic uniforms, I am the Great Value! @ellabrockway now https://t.co/NqX1II8fUw

Hopefully, the ‘Cats can make that 3-2 tomorrow.
Northwestern’s season opener against Michigan State kicks off on Friday at 8 p.m. CST and will be televised on ESPN.
