ESPN put together an All-Century team for every Big Ten school, and recently completed the Northwestern team, highlighted by members of the 2015 team Dan Vitale, Anthony Walker, and Nick VanHoose. Notably left off the team are Dan Persa, Justin Jackson, Drake Dunsmore, Barry Cofield, Dean Lowry, Nick Roach, and Ibraheim Campbell. What changes would you make?
Jackson and Walker keep reeling in the award list nominations.
After being named to the Maxwell Award watch list earlier this month, Justin Jackson has earned a spot on the Doak Walker Award watch list for the nation's best running back. Fresh off consecutive 1,000 yard seasons, the preseason honors for Jackson should come with little surprise.
Anthony Walker is really, really good at football. He's been named to the Bednarik and now the Butkus Award watch lists.
The attendees for Big Ten Media Days, which run July 25-26, have been announced. The Wildcats will bring All-American linebacker Anthony Walker as well as second-team All-Big Ten running back Justin Jackson and third-team All-Big Ten cornerback Matt Harris to the event along with head coach Pat Fitzgerald. A full list of attendees can be found above.
Bovada has released its odds to win for every conference, including conference divisions, and Northwestern has 9/1 odds to win the Big Ten West, behind Iowa (1/1), Nebraska (2/1) and Wisconsin (4/1). Northwestern also comes in with 33/1 odds to win the Big Ten, behind Michigan and Ohio State (7/4), Michigan State (7/1), Iowa and Nebraska (9/1), Wisconsin (14/1) and Penn State (18/1).
No surprises here. Fresh off of back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, Justin Jackson was named to the preseason Maxwell Award Watch List while teammate and All-American Anthony Walker was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List. Two high preseason honors for two players who will be instrumental in any successes Northwestern has next season.
SB Nation's Jason Kirk released his way-too-early bowl predictions, but then again too early is never early enough. He has Northwestern in the Independence Bowl against Mississippi St. on December 26th in Shreveport, Louisiana. We won't tell you what happened the last time the Wildcats and the Bulldogs met in a bowl game, but you can watch the highlights here.
