Lamont Atkins commits to Virginia over Northwestern

Atkins was the last uncommitted running back with a Northwestern offer in the class of 2017. Eno Benjamin, another NU target, recently committed to Iowa. Pat Fitzgerald and his staff will now look elsewhere at running back, and will likely extend other scholarship offers.

Maggie Lyon added to Chicago Sky's training camp roster

Fresh off a season where she averaged 16 points and 6 rebounds, Maggie Lyon has been added to the training camp roster of Chicago's WNBA franchise. A 4-time honorable mention All-Big Ten honoree, Lyon will look to carve out a role as an outside shooter at the next level. The Chicago Sky season opens on May 14th.

Northwestern to play Dayton at United Center on December 17

According to a report by CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein, Northwestern will play the Dayton Flyers on December 17th at the United Center. As part of a doubleheader, Illinois will also play BYU. The Chicago Tribune's Teddy Greenstein initially reported a potential doubleheader a few months ago but Rothstein confirmed the date.

Tre Demps scores 18 points at Portsmouth Invitational

Former Northwestern basketball player (weird to say that, isn't it?) Tre Demps went 6-for-12 from the field for 18 points at today's Portsmouth Invitational. Demps led his team in scoring.

Doug Collins wears Northwestern basketball pullover on ESPN's Pardon the Interruption

Doug Collins, father of Northwestern head basketball coach Chris Collins, was on the ESPN late afternoon show Pardon the Interruption this afternoon, and he donned a Northwestern basketball pullover for his segment. Collins, an NBA analyst for ESPN, talked about the upcoming NBA playoffs, and co-host Michael Wilbon, a Northwestern alum, complimented Collins on his attire.

Vic Law injury: Northwestern forward officially cleared medically

Nothing unexpected here, but good to know that Law has been officially cleared and will be able to partake in all spring workouts. Law had surgery in November.

Kasim Hill, Northwestern quarterback target, to announce decision Saturday

Kasim Hill is a four-star QB from Baltimore (which, it should be noted, means this announcement will likely come at 1 p.m. CT). 247 Sports lists Maryland as his favorite, with Boston College and Penn State in the picture too alongside Northwestern.

Superback Bryce Wolma decommits from NU

In a surprising turn of events, superback Bryce Wolma has decommitted from Northwestern in favor or Arizona. The Saline product had committed on Sunday, just hours after fellow superback Trey Pugh committed. Wolma announced his decommitment merely one hour after Denton safety Bryce Jackson announced his commitment to Northwestern.
