WHAT
WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT?
wE WON IN DOUBLE OVERTIME
AGAINST PURDUE
WE'VE WON TWO GAMES STRAIGHT
WHAT THE HELL
AHAHAHAHAHAHA
I'm so proud. My heart is full. Northwestern isn't going to make any tournament this year, but I'm having as much fun watching them as I've ever had. The offense is horrific, but the defense is crippling -- 10 blocks! 27.6 percent shooting! -- and I love each player with my very soul.
This was a hellgame for a long while, until it devolved into just complete absurdity. The Wildcats missed pretty much every three-point attempt they took while the Boilermakers hit from a pretty solid pace inside, but a solid outing from JerShon Cobb, points from Drew Crawford (although he didn't play his finest game, by a long shot) and of course, PATENTED TRE DEMPS HEROICS kept NU tight. And the Wildcats got the stops they needed late, to send this one into OT.
OT was awful and weird. Alex Olah was already fouled out due to AJ Hammons' pounding, and Nikola Cerina wasn't really an answer. But NU once again got a clutch stop with the game knotted, and Tre Demps' shot bounced off the top of the backboard three times -- THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED -- and a heave to Hammons connected, but he couldn't score.
AARON LIBERMAN PLAYED
In double overtime -- NU hadn't even been in one since 2003 -- Drew Crawford hit some shots. And we actually broke the press a few times, and held on for the 63-60 win.
However, this is the thing that made us proudest tonight:
