TIM HANRAHAN. NORTHWESTERN WILDCATS FOOTBALL. NO. 1.
DOIN SO MANY DANCES OVER HERE GUYS
Last night was college football, and last night was awesome: Vandy-Ole Miss was a damn classic, Minnesota and Indiana gave me some lols before comfortable wins, USC-Hawaii was HILARIOUS, Towson beat UConn, and Fresno State-Rutgers was an OT shootout with a failed two-point conversion for the win. THAT WAS THE FIRST NIGHT. THEY DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THAT MANY GAMES. THAT HAPPENED ANYWAY. It was so fun chatting about it in the chatroom, and I hope you'll join me in future. But it is not yet Northwestern football season. That is tomorrow. So we must talk about Tim Hanrahan.
Origin myth
Timmy was a teammate of Patrick Ward at Providence Catholic, and was the team's two-time MVP, in 2008 -- when Ward was on the team! -- and in 2009. Behind Ward, he ran for 1,936 yards as a junior, and as a senior, he had 1,851 yards as the Celtics went to the Illinois 6A title game, winning all but one game before losing to Cary-Grove in the final. He was the Chicago Catholic League offensive MVP that year, earned all-state honors, and got himself the No. 2 spot on Providence's all-time rushing list. No highlight reel, though it sounds like it woulda been good. All that running and award-getting apparently wasn't enough to get him a college scholarship a la Tim Riggins, so he became an NU walk-on.
At Northwestern
Eight rushes for 31 yards and two short kick returns last year, as he was often the back in front of Venric Mark or Tony Jones ready to field short kickoffs.Anagram of choice

How he can help
Hanrahan won't see the field much, but he's important from a team morale role -- as you may remember, Northwestern gave him the No. 1 to signify his status as a "team leader/spirit crew" dude, like Bo Cisek was last year. Appreciate him for that, and hopefully he busts out a light saber.Depth chart
