Meet our "Big 10", i.e. the 'Cats that are getting checks from NFL franchises.. This week we'll list 'em in alphabetical order. Next week, they'll be listed in order of playing time (i.e. starters will get top billing).
Brian Arnfelt (#69, Pittsburgh Steelers). After logging 8 tackles (5 Solo and 3 Assisted) in the preseason, he was assigned to the practice squad. He didn't see any action as the Steelers fell to the Titans, 16-9.
Corbin Bryant (#97, Buffalo Bills). Corbin notched 9 tackles (3 Solo and 6 Assisted) in the preseason, he's tabbed on the third team at DT. He didn't make the box score in a 23-21 loss to the Patriots.
Barry Cofield (#96, Washington NFL Team). Big Barry is the starting Nose Tackle in Washington's 3-4 defense. On Monday night he wrapped up 3 tackles (2 Solo, 1 Assisted), but his squad couldn't rally back against the Eagles, losing 33-27.
Marquice Cole (#23, New England Patriots). 'Quice had 16 Tac kles in the preseason (13 solo, 3 assisted) and 2 Passes Defended. This pushed him to second team left cornerback for Belichick's boys. While the Pats beat the Bills, Cole didn't get in the book this week.
Jeremy Ebert (#80, Jacksonville Jaguars). Good ol' #11 is now #80 for the Jags practice squad. In the preseason he notched 5 receptions for 46 yards, with 1 TD. The non-practice squad Jags got crushed 28-2 by the Bucs.
Jordan Mabin (#43, Atlanta Falcons). Jordan is on the Falcons practice squad. Didn't participate in their 23-17 loss against the Saints.
Sherrick McManis (#38, Chicago Bears). In the preseason, Sherrick had 7 tackles (all but 1 were Solo), and 1 forced fumble. He's currently listed as the 3rd team right cornerback, and his Bears enjoyed a comeback win against the Hard Knocks Bengals.
Nick Roach (#53, Oakland Raiders). Nick is the starting MLB for the Raiders, and had 9 tackles (5 solo, 4 assisted) as the silver and black got undone by the Colts 21-17.
Zach Strief (#64, New Orleans Saints). Zach is the starting right tackle for the New Orleans Saints, and they won 23-17 against NFC South rivals Atlanta.
Corey Wootton (#98, Chicago Bears). Corey's the starting right DE for the Monsters of the Midway, and had two Assisted tackles in a 24-21 win over the Bengals.
Squad Status summary: 4 starters, 3 backups, 3 practice squaddies.
Week 1 Record: 4 Cats played for winners, while 6 Cats tasted bitter defeat.
